Top Time Tip – Don’t Make Email the First Thing of the Day

Today’s top time tip is a controversial one and something very few people do.

The tip is to NOT make email the first thing in your day.

While lots of people start their day with email, what is more powerful is to start with your number one priority (which you’ve hopefully jotted down the day before).

Could you spend the first hour, or even the first 30 minutes of your day, on a high priority task, before getting side-tracked into email?

The caveat of course is that if responding to emails is THE top priority in your role this may not apply.

But for most people, it’s not. Checking your email at 9.30 or 10am is totally acceptable for the majority of people.

In fact you may want to add a line into your signature blok saying “I check emails at 10, 12 and 4. For anything urgent please text me.” (or something similar, then work in ‘offline mode’ in between times.)

Try it out and see what a difference it makes for you…
